Illuxcon Recovered
I am finally all caught up on sleep and absorbing all that I experienced and learned this year. I can’t say enough for Illuxcon. The community that Patrick and Jeannie Wilshire have created is a haven and warm family for artists who love Imaginative Realism, Fantasy and Sci Fi art. There is no other group like it.
The compliments, the encouragement, the enthusiasm and excitement that we all got to share with each other was so deeply soul satisfying! There are too many people to thank here in one list but there are a few special thanks I want to list:
Everyone who went to IMC. Period. We are connected in a way no alma mater could – because we are if anything an INCLUSIVE group! You didn’t go to IMC? Doesn’t matter! We will share what was given to us. Thank you Rebecca Guay and all of the wonderful generous teachers of IMC. I could not have had the success this year without you! Your example and integrity are such a shining light to all of us!
Jon Schindehette. You are an inspiration. Your humility, generosity, honesty, and authenticity are a gift to us all. You make us brave!
Zoë Robinson, Lauren Panepinto, Marc Scheff, Pete Mohrbacher and Sam Flegal – thank you for teaching us all how to be better professionals. I know I spend more time lurking and less interacting but you are an amazing influence on so many of us – your voice is heard!
All the amazing artists in the main show – you give us heights to reach for while you are climbing even higher. Thank you for being so approachable and enthusiastic and generous! Colin and Kristine Poole were especially kind and encouraging – thank you for sharing so much information and enthusiasm with me! I am so inspired!
There are so many more people I can’t thank enough for being a part of my life. These last eight years have been a merry go round and you guys have been chucking brass rings at me all this time. Thank you!
I will be emailing the winner of the Derp give away today – These were such a hit at Illuxcon and I can’t wait to do more! Sadly Rimmer above has been sold but I have plenty more where he came from! I will be putting them up on the website for sale soon after the award winner receives their choice!
Thanks again to everyone for making this the best Illuxcon yet!
A final note. Bittersweet is now winging it’s way to its new home. Because of Illuxcon and the wonderful network of IMC friends this painting was purchased before the show. The buyer was kind enough to wait until I got back to ship it to them. This was the biggest reward of all – their love for this piece.
